Skydiving : Leonardo di Vinci designed the first triangular parachute in 1514 with the first principle of drag, to save people jumping from burning buildings. First record of a life saved, 1808, when a Polish hot air balloonist, Jordan Puparento, jumped to safety in Warsaw when his ballon caught fire.

Skydiving : During both world wars paratroopers, training & equipment evolved. In 1950's Raymond Young referred to parachuting as skydiving & it took off. Associations, schools & championships were formed as we know them today.
